Events
The Friends of Canoe Creek host a series of events each year to enhance visitors’ experience of the State Park. Annually, you will find our signature events, such as movies in the park and Mountain Pie Madness. New events are hosted based on visitor feedback and current events. Below you will find this current year’s events.
First Day Hike

Wentz Education Center
In collaboration with Canoe Creek State Park staff, Friends of Canoe Creek assist in offering the First Day Hike (a state-wide initiative) to visitors. We offer hot chocolate and snacks, as well as a campfire to stay warm. Park rangers lead a hike starting at 2:00 pm.
Family Fishing

Beach Lifeguard Stand
Join us and the Blair County Fish, Game, and Forestry to learn how to fish, plus some tips and tricks! We especially encourage youth ages 6 to 12 to join us!

Salute to Service 250th Anniversary Celebration

Beach Patio
We will celebrate our country with a special salute to our veterans and scouts. Bring a picnic lunch, and we will be giving free hotdogs and snacks to the first 250 attendees, while supplies last. Free American flags will be handed out, while supplies last.

Mountain Pie Madness

It’s absolute madness! Mountain pie madness is one of our most popular events. Try our award-winning buffalo chicken mountain pie, a classic pizza mountain pie, or one of our sweet concoctions. Some even dare to mix and match! B.Y.O.W. (Bring your own water). In addition to the food, enjoy music and some extra activities with some local partners. All free!
